Despite this, in the aftermath of the tests, it announced that it would give users more control over images because it understands that its automatic method of cropping images means that there is a potential for damage.
Twitter said: The results of the reports could be useful in making changes across the platform, new guidance on how to design specific products, and raising awareness about ethical machine learning.

The Twitter initiative comes as social media companies face accusations that their algorithms are responsible for increasing polarization, disinformation and online extremism.
