Last year, the company presented its fifth-generation smartwatch (Fossil Gen 5) with (Wear OS) and a chipset (Snapdragon 3100) at a price of $ 295.
The Fossil Gen 5E is supposed to be a replacement for last year’s Fossil Gen 5, but at $ 249 each for the standard 42mm and 44mm.
The watch (Fossil Gen 5E) comes with the same basic specifications as last year’s model, including an AMOLED screen measuring 1.19 inches and a Snapdragon 3100 chipset instead of the updated Wear 4100 chipset this year.
It is also equipped with a loudspeaker and a microphone that allows you to make calls directly via the watch linked to a phone running the Android or iOS operating system, as well as allow inquiries through the Google Assistant.
There’s also 1GB RAM, plus Standard set of sensors that can track heart rate, sleep, fitness activities, and save battery.
The watch is splash proof (3ATM), which means it can be used in the rain but not swimming, and it also comes with (NFC) function for digital payments and an always-on display feature.
And some specifications had to be removed to lower the price, so that the new watch does not include a standalone GPS, so you must link it to your phone so that the watch knows your location.
The crowns on the right side of the watch face are also non-rotating, with storage space reduced to 4 GB instead of 8 GB.
The Fossil Gen 5E has no ambient light sensor, altimeter, or compass, however It features lots of color options as well as leather, stainless steel and silicone straps.
And both sizes contain a 300 mAh battery that is charged via a special magnetic charger. The Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch is expected to start shipping on November 3, according to the Fossil website.
