Lowered a company Tesla’s used car warranty period is in another round of what could be considered a belt tension before what is expected to be a significant financial report for the third quarter of 2020.
According to the site Electrek, The automaker previously offered a two to four-year warranty on used Model S and Model X cars, but now it only offers a one-year, or 10,000-mile, warranty.
The used car warranty is offered alongside the new car warranty, which benefits anyone who buys a modern used car from Tesla.
Electrek did not disclose why Tesla changed its used car warranty policy, but indicated that it would likely reduce customers’ confidence in buying a used car from the US electric car maker.
The news comes on the heels of Tesla canceling its bold return policy, according to which new buyers of its electric cars can return them for a full refund within seven days.
Tesla is expected to announce its third-quarter financial results this week. And earlier this month, the company announced that it delivered 139,300 vehicles during the third quarter, breaking the previous record for delivery of 112,000 cars.
Tesla said MondayA: It will begin exporting Chinese-made Model 3 cars to more than 10 European countries this month, joining a growing number of car manufacturers that use China as an electric vehicle export center.
The company – which began delivering cars made at its factory in Shanghai last December – said that Chinese cars will be exported this month to countries, including Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland.
Tesla is expanding in China even as tensions escalate between Washington and Beijing. The Shanghai plant, Tesla’s first car factory outside the United States, aims to manufacture 150,000 cars this year.
The export of Model 3 cars to Europe comes while Tesla is building a German factory in the suburbs of Berlin, after the German government announced a subsidy of 9,000 euros for buyers of electric cars, including the Model 3 car.
