It was the first Chinese company to launch a commercially available foldable screen phone called Royole Flexpai, which preceded Samsung and Huawei.
In March, the company promised to improve the idea with the new FlexPai 2, and while the company mostly shares only computer-generated images instead of actual photos, you can watch a demo of the phone spanning 38 minutes.
FlexPai 2 is very similar to the company’s previous phone (FlexPai) in terms of shape, but comes with an improved hinge and screen, and contains the third generation of the flexible screen (Cicada Wing).
The phone comes with a screen with a thickness of 6.3 mm when opened and 12.8 mm when folded, and while it is not as thin as the (Surface Duo) dual-screen screen, it appears thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 screen of 6.9 mm when opened and 16.8 mm when Fold it up.
Royole claims that the new Super Seamless & Stepless Hinge designed specifically for her does not include a gap, is corrosion-resistant, mechanically durable, and does not contain gaps that allow dust to enter the device and affect the durability of the phone.
This 7.8-inch screen may be a weak point, as Royale says nothing about glass, so it’s supposed to be plastic, with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels, less compared to its competitors Samsung and Microsoft.
And the rest of the specifications look somewhat competitive, as there is a flagship (Snapdragon 865) processor with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, a storage capacity of 256 GB or 512 GB, a battery with a capacity of 4450 mAh, and support for networks (5G).
There is a quad-rear camera with a 64-megapixel primary lens, a 16-megapixel wide lens, an 8-megapixel zoom lens with 3X optical zoom, and a 32-megapixel camera for selfies.
There are also stereo speakers, two SIM card slots, support for the latest wireless standard (Wi-Fi 6), and a USB-C port for fast charging, and the company said: The screen bears 1.8 million open and close operations.
And Royole promised that its user interface called (waterOS 2.0) will intelligently divide the screen across multiple applications, and allow the user to drag and drop between those applications.
And allows the use of the folded screen to get an ideal picture, and the company says: The user interface (WaterOS 2.0) depends on Android 10.
Andit costs FlexPai 2, with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, 11,588 yuan, or roughly $ 1,707.
