AMD is collaborating with a company Samsung to provide RDNA 2 graphics technology for the Exynos system. Which could give a boost to the GPU performance of leading Samsung phones.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that Samsung has cooperated with AMD, as both companies worked together in 2019.

Samsung’s collaboration with AMD:

AMD tapped into its keynote speech at the Computex 2021 conference for some details about the upcoming Exynos chip with AMD graphics.

“AMD is collaborating with Samsung on the next generation of Exynos chip, which includes a dedicated graphic architecture based on AMD RDNA 2 architecture,” she said.

AMD RDNA 2 architecture provides ray tracing and variable rate shading capabilities for leading mobile devices.

Although no more details have been shared about this collaboration, the company has talked about how Samsung will share more details about the new 5G chipset later this year.

Looking at the statement, the successor to the Exynos 2100 chip can be seen later this year.

It also means that we can start forecasting AMD-powered Galaxy S series devices by the first half of 2022.

There are also rumors that Exynos 2200 laptops with AMD graphics could start showing up early this year.

It is not certain whether the AMD and Samsung partnership gives the Exynos series a much-needed boost.

Graphics performance has always been known to be the weakest point of Samsung’s internal Exynos chipset.

Thus this situation may soon change with AMD’s help with graphics, providing ray tracing, variable rate shading, and possibly more technology.

AMD has partnered with Samsung to accelerate graphics innovation in the mobile device market. So the next place you find RDNA 2 will be the high-performance mobile market.

And the flagship Galaxy phones are shipped in the US and some other markets with Snapdragon from Qualcomm. The rest of the world gets the Exynos chipset.
