Reon Pocket 2 .. Sony’s wearable air conditioner
The Reon Pocket 2 looks somewhat similar to the original Reon Pocket it launched last year after being funded collectively via the company’s platform.
But the newly designed interior can achieve up to twice the heat absorption level, resulting in a more robust cooling performance, despite its smaller size and light weight.
In addition, stainless steel, which has high strength and facilitates cold transfer, is used for cold and hot parts that come into contact with the surface of the body.
Sony says it improved sweat resistance in the second generation of the product, making it more suitable for light exercise situations.
The previous model was mostly marketed as a wearable thing with a special undershirt to make summer commuting more bearable, but Sony emphasizes more diverse use cases, particularly golf, outdoor activities and business.
The company has partnered with sportswear brands, including Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear and Descente, to produce a range of golf wear that has device pockets.
Sony has also designed a neckband attachment so that the Reon Pocket 2 can be used with regular clothing, after you previously had to purchase a set of Sony’s pocket-sized undershirts.
The device uses thermoelectric cooling technology, and it connects to a smart application via a mobile phone through bluetooth to operate instant cooling or heating, thus lowering or raising the temperature, as the device can absorb or generate heat.
The Reon Pocket 2 was launched today in Japan for 14,850 yen (about $ 138), and there is no information on its release elsewhere.
