The first electric-powered sports car to emerge from the new collaboration between Polaris and Zero Motorcycles is supposed to be the battery-powered Ranger.
The companies did not provide any details about the range, battery or price, but said: It is expected that production of the new terrain vehicle will start in December 2021.
The Ranger is the number one selling brand in the Polaris SUV lineup, and a spokesperson said: More details are coming, but the goal is to build a better Ranger with more torque, more power, traction and capability needed.
Polaris and Zero Motorcycles last year signed a 10-year agreement to produce a range of electric vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles.
Both companies hope to tap into what they believe has been a neglected market for electricity, such as: off-road vehicles and snowmobiles, with the hope of making an electric version of every type of vehicle in the Polaris lineup by 2025.
(Mike Speetzen), Polaris’ interim CEO, said in a statement statement: With the growing interest in electric cars, we are investing in electricity in order to meet the needs of existing customers as well as attract future riders of aggressive sports cars.
“The all-new Electric Ranger is our latest effort to lead the industry forward in the EV field.
And unlike all-terrain vehicles, which are also called quad bike, all-terrain vehicles are used more for work than for leisure.
Large, powerful vehicles are commonly used to haul equipment and supplies at locations that make the use of a truck impractical or impossible.
Polaris fuel Rangers generally range between $ 20,000 and $ 22,000 and are a popular vehicle for agricultural workers, hunters, and other outdoor enthusiasts.
The Electric Ranger is being designed and developed by Polaris and Zero Motorcycles at a facility in Wyoming, Minnesota, and manufactured at the Polaris facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
The first cars are expected to be launched early next year.
