A few years ago, the focus was usually on Qualcomm, Samsung and Huawei when it came to flagship processors for mobile devices.
The Taiwanese company tried to enter the field aggressively for years with the Helio X series, making adjustments with the new Dimensity 1000 launched in November 2019, and following it with Dimensity 1000 Plus in May 2020.
Mediatek manufactured these chips according to TSMC’s 6nm process, which is an upgrade to the 7nm process used in the manufacture of the Dimensity 1000 Plus.
The Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 feature a built-in 5G modem that supports 5G NSA and SA modes, dynamic spectrum DSS sharing, dual 5G Dual Standby SIM cards, and VoNR support.
There is also a 5G HSR mode and a 5G Elevator mode for more reliable 5G networking.
Both feature eight cores, but there is a slight difference between them. The Dimensity 1200 features a main Cortex-A78 core at 3 GHz, while the other three performance cores are a Cortex-A78 at 2.6 GHz.
The Dimensity 1100 features four of these performance cores, while the other four are Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz.
There is a GPU, and both come with nine ARM Mali-G77 GPU, which supports HyperEngine 3.0 gaming technologies, andThis includes support for 5G connectivity and data synchronization.
In addition to enhanced multi-touch for increased touchscreen responsiveness, the full suite also enables ray tracing support in games and augmented reality applications, and supports super power saving in the hotspot.
Dimensity 1200 supports 168Hz FHD + refresh rate, Dimensity 1100 supports 144Hz FHD + refresh rate. In QHD + resolution, both go up to 90Hz.
Both chipsets also support HDR10 + video playback and AV1 video decoding, andThey also support Bluetooth 5.2, plus true ultra-low latency wireless stereo audio and LC3 encoding for high-quality streaming and lowest music latency over the wireless earbuds.
The Pentagonal ISP processor within the Dimensity 1200 supports imaging sensors up to 200 MP (single), or up to 32 MP + 16 MP (dual), It also features 4K HDR video recording for the greater dynamic range.
The 5-core ISP processor within the Dimensity 1100 supports imaging sensors up to 108 MP (single) or up to 32 MP + 16 MP (dual), and features 4K HDR video recording for the greatest dynamic range.
Both support the camera’s AI features, such as: AI night panoramic photo, AI multi-person Bokeh effects, AI noise reduction, HDR capabilities, and AI-enhanced video playback features.
And there is a new hexa-core artificial intelligence processor called MediaTek APU 3.0 for AI computing, with improved task scheduling to reduce latency and improve energy efficiency.
And theThe first devices with the new Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 chipsets will be available in the market at the end of the first quarter of 2021. Xiaomi and Vivo Oppo have shown interest in these new chips.
