Jeep plans to install off-road electric chargers

Plans a company Jeep is partnering with Electrify America to create the Jeep 4xe electric charging network, as Jeep-branded electric charging stations are installed across off-road tracks over the next year, allowing owners to take full advantage of the company’s electric four-wheel drive vehicles.

The Jeep 4xe electric charging stations are slated to open this spring at three of the Jeep brand’s most popular off-road and track locations.

Additional Jeep 4xe stations are slated to be operational across the country by the end of 2021.

Charging stations are located near the Jeep Badge of Honor tracks, an off-road rewards program to support enthusiasts looking to claim the badge of honor for a Jeep Wrangler 4xe.

Electric charging stations are either connected directly to the power grid or use solar energy to generate electricity.

(Christian Monnier) said: Christian Meunier, Jeep Brand CEO – Stellantis: Electrification opens a new chapter in the Jeep brand story, and it brings a whole new level of excitement and fun to passionate car owners.

He added: The key to making the Jeep brand the greenest SUV brand is to reassure car owners so that they can enjoy the benefits of electric drive wherever they go, including the country’s most popular off-road.

The creation of a network of charging stations for off-road electric vehicles coincides with the launch of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, the most capable, technically advanced and environmentally friendly vehicle Wrangler has ever built.

And with the Wrangler 4xe, Jeep enthusiasts can explore the beauty of nature via zero-emission drive that delivers instant torque off-road.

Electrify America said: Our goal is to provide electric vehicle drivers the freedom to get to where they want to go, whether it’s on a highway or off-road.

Jeep 4xe electric grid chargers provide a Level 2 charge of 240V, and with Tier 2 charging, the Wrangler 4xe’s 17 kW battery pack can be fully recharged in approximately two hours.

Wrangler 4xe owners can charge the battery for free through the mobile app, and Jeep says the stations will be compatible with its future electric vehicles as well.

The announcement comes a few days after Jeep unveiled its Wrangler concept All-electric named Magneto.
