In a research note, Kuo expects the 120Hz refresh rate to appear for the first time on iPhones for 2021 with Low Energy Display (LTPO).
And Apple maintains the traditional 60Hz refresh rate for iPhones for another full year.
This is largely disappointing news for Apple fans, given that most modern Android phones now use screens with refresh rates between 90Hz and 120Hz.
The smooth response of highly refreshed screens is an important addition to the user experience and can make gaming more enjoyable.
Kuo explained that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will have a slightly narrower bump to appropriately display information in the upper left and right corners, such as time and signal strength.
The rest of the lineup is said to have the same notch size as last year’s iPhone 11 models.
The entire iPhone 12 lineup supports the fifth generation network, with two copies of each model available, with shipments supporting the sub-6GHz standard to begin arriving first.
