Intel announces its eleventh-generation processors

Announced a company Intel has officially released all the details about the upcoming 11th generation Rocket Lake processors for desktop computers, after a brief preview at CES.

The group tops the Core i9-11900K chip with eight cores and 16 threads, an enhanced speed of 5.3GHz, 3200MHz DDR4 RAM support, a total of 20 lanes of PCIe 4.0, and compatibility with Intel 400 Series chipsets.

The new chip lagged, on paper, from the top chip from last year’s Core i9-10900K that offered 10 cores, 20 lines and a similar boosted speed of 5.3 GHz.

This is because Intel is introducing for the first time a new desktop core architecture for the first time in more than half a decade, with an eleventh-generation Rocket Lake chipset called Cypress Cove.

Cypress Cove’s core architecture replaces the previous core architecture called Skylake, which the company has been using since its sixth generation of chips in 2015.

But Cypress Cove is not a new core architecture, but rather Willow Cove chip designs and technologies from Intel that the company has been using in its 11th-generation Tiger Lake chips.

Given that these designs were intended for 10nm chips, Intel is limited by the number of cores, and Intel still says: The new chips provide better performance than the 10th generation.
