Issued platform Instagram is a redesigned version of its standalone threads messaging app with an updated navigation and status tab, as well as support for posting photos and videos via Instagram stories.
The platform continues to develop the app, amending it last month to enable users to send messages to everyone, instead of just close friends, as the other messaging app Direct has done.
The new changes address some of Threads’ usability limitations.
Although the app provided a way to update or even update your status automatically, depending on your location, it was difficult to navigate the different sections of the app.
The redesign is trying to make it easier for Threads users to view and interact with friends’ statuses and stories, or quickly jump to the camera interface or inbox, through a new navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
Instagram says the new navigation method, which is adding a Status tab, is reaching users globally.
Also, the most recent change to your Inbox, which added a new tab, is now available worldwide.
In addition, Instagram says: App users can now take a photo or video and share it via Instagram stories, as well as the story of close friends.
This option began appearing over the past month, with the launch of separate inbox tabs, and should now be available to all users.
These changes are another step that makes Threads not intended for use with close friends only.
The updates come after a period of overhaul of the Facebook family of mobile messaging apps In September, the company announced the possibility of communicating jointly between the two platforms, Messenger and Instagram.
This update included the ability to change chat color, and interact with any emoji, among other new features. Facebook said: Vanish will soon arrive on Instagram.
Threads ranked 66th in the photo and video category across the US app store, and 1031 overall.
These new efforts show that Instagram continues to modify user experience through the app, in an effort to meet the needs of those who use Instagram’s messaging platform.
