Facebook has 7 million Workplace subscribers
The Workplace is an online collaborative platform that facilitates teamwork, instant messaging, video conferencing, and news sharing, and so forthCompanies can use it as an internal social network to communicate with their employees.
The service was launched in 2016, and it includes companies such as Spotify and Starbucks among its customers.
Despite these numbers, the service lags behind the best competitors, as Microsoft announced last month that the Microsoft Teams platform now has more than 145 million daily active users, an increase of more than 93 percent compared to the figure of 75 million in April 2020.
Slack no longer details user numbers, but it announced 12 million daily active users in September 2019. It is the last time I reported this statistic.
The number of Slack paying customers increased by nearly 42 percent from 110,000 in March 2020 to 156,000 in March 2021.
Facebook did not clarify how much Workplace contributed to its revenue, but the service, along with Oculus and Portal devices, is counted under the ranking of other businesses in its financial results.
During the first quarter of 2021, other businesses accounted for about 2.8 percent of Facebook’s revenue, with the remainder coming from ads.
“We created Workplace as an internal version of Facebook to run our own company, and it was very helpful that we started letting other organizations use it as well,” Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, said in a post.
The Workplace Product Manager said: We aspire to provide commercial IT software to billions of Facebook users By creating services that use the same features that people know from consumer Facebook apps.
He added: “A lot of people didn’t have access to IT before because it was complicated or expensive, and now you can put anyone in the Workplace and they will understand how to use it right away.”
Facebook also announced a number of new features coming to the Workplace, including a new direct question and answer experience, integration with Office 365 and G Suite calendar apps from Google, emoji with different skin tones, and a feature that allows users to show the correct way of pronouncing their names to colleagues.
