Echo devices get group video calling

Launched a company Amazon has a feature for group video calling and group voice calling for Echo devices, which was announced Originally in September.

The feature allows up to seven participants to join the voice or video call via supported Echo devices, such as: Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show, through voice commands.

Amazon is launching the conference calling feature in Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Echo owners can create and name groups using the Alexa app, and Amazon plans to support group calling through the Alexa app soon.

You can add adult contacts to groups, and friends and family must sign up to be part of the group calling.

This new feature also supports Alexa voice commands, such as “Alexa, call my family”, to call the group you’ve created.

And conference calling via Echo devices can be a good alternative to Zoom and other video calling services.

There are no restrictions on call times, allowing Amazon device owners to freely make or receive audio and video calls.

Besides the conference calling feature, Amazon also offers some USA’s Alexa features.

Echo Show 8 devices in the US now support joining video calling via Zoom and Amazon Chime using Alexa, and you can simply say, “Alexa, join my Zoom meeting,” to go on the call.

Captions for calls are available via Echo Show devices, with real-time captions for video and audio in US English..

This feature allows Alexa to display the text of what the other party is saying in near real time during video and one-on-one voice calls, helping deaf and hard of hearing clients.

Zoom has begun to increase the 40-minute meeting time limit for many upcoming holidays, and competitors such as Microsoft Teams are making bargain calls all day for free without restrictions across the web.

Google is also offering unlimited calls via Google Meet until March 2021.

The year 2020 was the undisputed year of video conferencing, with more than ever before using video to communicate for work and personal life.
