Clubhouse for Android has entered the beta testing phase
After gaining a large user base through iOS, Clubhouse began working on an app for Google’s operating system earlier this year in January.
At the time, the company secured a second round of led funding, and shared plans to use the funds to develop an Android app, expand technology and infrastructure, and introduce the new Creator Grant program.
And it seems that the company is committed to its plan so far, as it has now started testing the Clubhouse app for Android through the beta channel.
The company recently published details about its latest issue on Post, And highlighted some of the changes made to the iOS app.
The post also revealed that it has begun rolling out the beta version of its Android app to a few testers, with plans to add more Android users over the coming weeks.
This means that the app is currently in closed beta, so you can’t sign up to try it now.
Clubhouse is currently only available on iOS, but a growing number of Android users have shown interest in the app over the past few months.
Clubhouse’s popularity has prompted many competing platforms, including Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, Instagram LinkedIn, Spotify and Reddit, to develop a form of live audio product.
This includes almost all social media heavyweights covering billions of users across different sectors.
Due to the real-time voice chat product attack, the appeal of Clubhouse has faded a bit, with recent data from Analytics firm Sensor Tower indicating that app downloads in March were down 72 percent compared to the previous month.
Accordingly, it makes sense for the company to release an application for Android as soon as possible, or it may lose a large portion of its potential user base through Spaces from Twitter or Voice Chat 2.0 from Telegram, which are available to many users via Android.
The company has not yet shared a timeline for the release of its Android app, but given that it is available to some users via the beta channel, it is expected to roll out more widely in the coming weeks.
It is reported that the app for iOS only made a sensation after its launch in March of last year because it contains an invitation system to make people feel special and a new style of voice interaction in real time without recording features.
