Bravia XR owners can choose from a number of Sony Pictures titles and watch them using Sony’s Pure Stream technology, which delivers ultra-high-definition Blu-ray Disc quality, according to Sony.
Pure Stream also allows streaming of up to 80Mbps, andFor comparison, most streaming services recommend keeping an internet speed between 15 and 25 Mbps to achieve 4K Ultra HD resolution.
The platform comes preloaded across all new Bravia XR models (MASTER Series Z9J 8K LED, MASTER Series A90J, A80J OLED, X95J and X90J 4K LED). They effectively use the coupon system.
Depending on which model someone buys, they are awarded a number of credits, and these credits can be disbursed to a number of new addresses.
It is not clear if people can keep these addresses after purchasing them with credits.
On the broadcast front, the Sony website states that customers can broadcast a number of titles at any time and any number of times in quality up to 4K HDR.
But there are limits to that as well, as your choice of movies depends on availability and the Bravia XR model you’ve purchased.
Bravia Core won’t replace Netflix, but it appears designed to show customers the ultimate potential of the new TV set.
The Bravia XR TVs also have the largest IMAX-enhanced movie collection, which combines digitally redesigned 4K HDR content and DTS audio technologies with the best consumer electronics and streaming platforms.
Sony has not mentioned the number of IMAX titles or other addresses that will be available, but they are likely to be very limited compared to other services.
