Asus has a 4K gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1

Preparing a company Asus released its first HDMI 2.1-capable gaming monitor, which has enough bandwidth to display up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second when connected to a compatible PC running Windows, Xbox Series X or PS5.

According to Asus, the ROG Swift PG32UQ is the world’s first gaming monitor to support a 32-inch HDMI 2.1 port, and two HDMI ports support the latest standard.

And DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity enables the ROG Swift PG32UQ to display 4K content with a 144Hz refresh rate across the PC.

For this feature, Asus attributes it to a technology called DSC broadcast compression that compresses UHD broadcasts without a noticeable drop in visual quality.

And just like the Acer Nitro XV28 gaming monitor announced last week, the ROG Swift PG32UQ gaming monitor will only ship sometime in the second quarter of 2021.

Aus doesn’t share a price for this model, but doesn’t expect anything for under $ 900, which is the price of Acer’s smaller 28-inch Nitro XV28 screen.

Both have an IPS panel with 4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate with a response time of 1 millisecond, but the Asus screen may be the preferred choice among computer gamers because it has a larger screen.

The monitor supports HDMI 2.1 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro variable refresh rates, so it can synchronize its refresh rate with the GPU even as frame rates naturally vary over time.

Asus says the ROG Swift PG32UQ is currently submitting Certification process for NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility for use with GeForce graphics cards.

And it should be compatible with Nvidia’s variable refresh rate to get rid of screen issues, and maintain smooth and clear visuals even in the fastest games thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate.

The ROG Swift PG32UQ gaming monitor supports Asus VESA DisplayHDR 600, allowing it to reach a peak brightness of 600 nits, which means it has higher brightness than the Acer Nitro XV28 screen.

The display is factory calibrated to ensure color accuracy, with full coverage of the sRGB series and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 series.

According to the company, the ROG Swift PG32UQ provides PC gamers and game consoles alike with a feature-rich 4K screen.
