An analyst (Ming-Chi Kuo) known for his meticulous leaks published regarding Company Apple’s new note focused on the planned shift to mini LED screen technology, in addition to the possibility that Apple will release two or three new chargers in 2021.
Predicted (Kuo) said Tuesday that the switch to mini LED displays will happen faster than initially expected.
In the new note, Kuo revised its forecasts for Apple’s shipments of devices that will use mini LED display technology. And (Ku) had previously expected that Apple would ship between 2 million to 3 million units in 2021, and between 4 million to 5 million units in 2022. Now, the analyst says: Apple will ship between 10 million to 12 million units in 2021, and between 25 million to 28 million units in 2022.
Kuo explained this increase in shipments for two reasons: that the improvement in cost in the next two years will be better than expected, and that the rate of adoption of mini LED screens in MacBook computers will be better than expected.
Kuo said: Apple intends to launch my MacBook Pro in a completely new form in 2021, and both computers will rely on mini LED technology. Apple will also offer a new MacBook Air computer at a lower price than the current price in 2022, and that computer will use mini LED screens as well.
The analyst says that the MacBook series will be the main leader in mini LED displays because the rate of adoption of mini LED technology in laptops and the growth of shipments is superior to that of iPads.
Kuo expected shipments (MacBook) to grow 100 percent to between 30 and 35 million units annually over the next three years, thanks to the adoption of the new Apple Silicon processor, and an entirely new form of computers.
“Because the cost of the Apple Silicon is much lower than that of the Intel processor, the use of Apple Silicon could offset the increased cost of using mini LED screens,” Kuo explained.
It should be noted that mini LED technology is a new form of backlight that uses LCD screens. It provides many of the features that OLED displays, but it can sometimes provide improvements in brightness, energy efficiency, and has a lower level of fatigue.
It is likely that Apple will release two or three new chargers in 2021. It is not clear what the analyst means by his words, but wall chargers are expected to be more powerful with fast charging technology using GaN (gallium nitride) technology. And the analyst may be referring to the ever-expanding line of MagSafe wireless charging accessories.
