Apple announces the all-new iMac
The new iMac delivers powerful performance in a design that’s just 11.5mm thick, and the iMac is available in a range of colors to match the user’s personal style.
The device features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits per square meter, and more than a billion colors.
The new iMac also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker audio system.
Touch ID is coming to iMac for the first time, making it easy to securely log in, make purchases with Apple Pay, or switch user profiles with the touch of a finger.
By combining the power and performance of the M1 and macOS Big Sur, applications launch quickly, and challenging workloads such as editing 4K video and working with huge images are faster than ever.
The new iMac joins the family of Mac models operating with the M1 chip, including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini, marking another step forward in Apple’s transition to Apple silicon.
The iMac comes with a new magnetically wired power connector and a two-meter, color-matched cable.
The new iMac features a wide 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with narrow borders and 11.3 million pixels.
With a wide P3 color gamut and over a billion colors, plus 500 nits of brightness, images are vivid and brighter.
This new screen also features True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the color temperature as the environment changes for a more natural viewing experience.
In addition, the screen features an anti-reflective coating for added comfort and ease of reading.
When combined with its high-efficiency, unified memory architecture and 16-core Apple Neural Engine, the new iMac delivers powerful performance over the standard 21.5-inch iMac models.
IMac also takes advantage of the M1 chip’s image signal processor and Neural Engine, which enhances the camera’s picture quality while reducing noise.
For the first time, Touch ID is coming to the iMac, applied wirelessly via Magic Keyboard, and it uses a dedicated keyboard security component that connects directly to the M1’s Secure Enclave, creating an encrypted channel to protect users’ fingerprint data.
The new 24-inch iMac is available to order beginning Friday, and begins reaching customers in the second half of May.
The price of the iMac with a seven-core graphics processor starts from $ 1299 and is available in green, pink, blue and silver, and features an eight-core processor, 8 GB of unified memory, 256 GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, a Magic Keyboard, and a Magic Mouse.
