You want audiobooks unit in a company Amazon, (Audible), has become a full-fledged podcast network, as it announced that it has added nearly 100,000 podcast shows – comprising nearly 3 million episodes – to the service, which are freely available to members and non-members alike.
The free podcasts available now include: (Pod Save America), (You’re Wrong About), (This American Life), (Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend) and (FiveThirtyEight Politics).
Audible says it will add more in the coming weeks and months, and the podcast is currently available in the (Audible) app and via search via Alexa, the voice assistant.
In addition, the service displays podcasts from third parties, along with their original shows via these the page.
You can listen to the podcast for free if you are not a member of (Audible), but you need to log in with an account from Amazon.
The move helps make Audible a serious competitor to other services, such as Spotify and Apple Podcast, in addition to other smaller competitors.
Apple Podcast says it hosts more than 1.5 million titles, while Spotify – which has significantly increased its investment in this area over the past two years – says it has more than a million podcasts on its platform.
“Listeners of the service now have access to a wide range of innovative and thought-provoking content even outside of our growing library (Audible Originals) and unparalleled audiobook list, all in one place,” Amazon said in a statement.
The move comes after the Amazon Music service added a large number of podcasts last month, including the originals from (DJ Khaled), (Becky G), Dan Patrick and Will Smith, a co-production between Amazon Music and (Audible).
The service in August launched a plan New To subscribe, (Audible Plus), it gives listeners access to (Audible Originals) content at a cheaper monthly cost.
The service has 11,000 original content, but it still lags far behind in terms of the volume of content it offers.
Audible is working through these additional offers available for free to increase its podcast offerings and make their application a place where listeners can meet all podcast needs, in addition to the exclusive offers of other services.
